The green bin for residents of East Riding of Yorkshire is the one you might hear referred to as general waste. When it comes to what goes into the green bin, it’s best to think of it as everything that cannot be recycled in other bins.

The green bin is for non recyclables in East Riding of Yorkshire. You should use it for anything that cannot be recycled in your recyclables blue bin, or garden and food waste brown bin.

East Yorkshire Garden & Food Waste Brown Bin

It might be confusing to learn that food can go into the same brown bin as your garden waste. That’s because it can all be composted together at the council’s facilities for re-use in the future as a fertiliser, both by the council and given away to residents for use in gardens.

The brown bin is for green garden waste in East Riding of Yorkshire. You should use it for green grass clippings, pruning and leaves, plus branches up to 2 inches thick. Leftover food waste can also go into the bin too.
