Opening hours are the same seven days a week, offering one of the most comprehensive and widely available HWRC services in the country.

The only days that sites routinely close are Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. With the exception of the 1st January, 25th December and 26th December, the tips are available for Leeds residents to use every day.

Leeds City Council HWRC Permits

The eight sites above are for residents served by Leeds City Council only. That means that you can use their facilities for disposing household waste only if you pay your council tax to Leeds City Council.

Most normal residential vehicles can use the locations without the need for a permit. That includes normal family sized cars (including 4x4s).

Larger vehicles may need to apply for a large vehicle permit to gain access. This is to reduce the likelihood of trade waste being illegally deposited at the sites.

The process to apply for a permit is simple and straightforward, and you can download the form from the council website.

Please note that very large vehicles such as Luton vans and horse boxes are not allowed on HWRC sites at all. Commercial waste disposal companies offer alternative services, and there are additional commercial services available via the Seacroft and Kirkstall sites.
